Thali is a selection of different dishes, usually served in small bowls on a round tray. In North America people sometimes use plastic
thalis because they are disposable (“how perfectly horrible”, this was obviously written by a Brit.)

Tonight, they are served on a banana leaf.

Typical dishes include rice, dhal, vegetables, chapati or naan, yoghurt, small amounts of chutney or pickle, and a sweet dish to top it.

Restaurants typically offer a choice of vegetarian or meat-based thalis.   Tonight, we are having a choice of either of the two.

Kela kofta is a mix of plantano, chile and onion.   Aloo gobi is a popular Indian mix of aloo (potato) and gobi (cauliflower).
