Vindaloo
is an Indian curry dish popular in the region of Goa.
The name is derived from the Portuguese dish "Carne de Vinha d' Alhos",
which is a dish of meat, usually pork, with wine and garlic.
The Portuguese dish was modified by the substitution of vinegar (usually
palm vinegar) for the red wine and the addition of red Kashmiri chillies with
additional spices to evolve into Vindaloo.
Dhal is a dish
of pulses (dried lentils, peas or beans)
which have been stripped of their outer hulls and split. It is a thick stew
prepared from these, a mainstay of Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, and
Bangladeshi cuisine. Dhal is a ready
source of proteins for a balanced diet containing little or no meat.
